For most colleges, early action and early decision applications have a higher acceptance rate than regular applications
Summer or January admits usually have a higher acceptance rate than fall admits.
Public universities are sometimes limited by state law to admit a maximum percent of the freshman class from out of state. Students will be competing for those slots with international students, recruited athletes, and students with family ties to the school.
